Future Aims | Whāinga roa

Aims for 2025:

  • Have programmes running at 3 of 19 NZ-based prisons.

  • Identify a Prison where an entire unit of staff and those in care may be trauma informed

    • We’ve attempted this at the Manawatū Prison for the last 2 years but due to high rate of incarcerated movement in-out of the prison we have not been able to achieve our goal

    • Manawatū Prison staff have recommended to attempt this with the Whanganui Prison and we are in discussions with their Programmes team to explore options.

  • Begin running two community-based programmes in collaboration with other support services

  • Start bi-monthly 4-hour Compassion trauma circles online in the community setting

  • Begin Qualitative evaluation in collaboration with the University of Victoria University of Wellington (aim is to have 90 participants complete the programme and be evaluated)
